Special Characters in Names: Some names use special characters, and these can be hard to search for (or even enter into the keyboard if you don't know how). The following is a breakdown of what to type instead of some of those characters:

Æ or æ = The "AE" or "ae" ligature, please just use "AE" or "ae".
Ð or ð = "Eth" or "edth" character, please try using "d" or "th".
Œ or œ = The "OE" or "oe" ligature, as above, just use "OE" or "oe".
ß = The s-zed (German sharp 's') -- try using "ss" instead.
Þ or þ = Thorn, a TH sound, so try using "TH" or "th".

If the letter has an accent, symbol, or mark above or below it (or a line through it, such as Ø, š, é, ç, ü), enter the letter without that accent, mark, etc. (O, s, e, c, u).

The above will get you most names. If the symbol is in the first name and you aren't sure what to do, try using the "Contains/Includes" option (see the radiobuttons). For some names if you aren't sure how to spell the first name, but are the last, also use the "Contains/Includes" option. You don't have to type a complete name to find matches in most cases.

The name search routine is not case sensitive, so you can type a name in lower case or in upper.
