This baronial award is for accomplishment in the fine and noble art of punning. This award has been looked on by some as a dubious honor at best. It is not really intended as such. In the renaissance, the pun really was considered a high art form. With this in mind, two sub-orders were added to the Bitten Tongue. The Order of the Argent Tongue will be awarded to those members of the main order whose puns are of such high quality that they are deemed worth of special notice. The Order of the Twice Bitten Tongue (Thrice, etc.) will be awarded to those whose puns make up in truly excessive quantity whatever they may lack in quality.

The token for the order is a Tongue Purpure (purple) with in base the sinister flank invected (a bite mark design taken out near the bottom) suspended from a Vert (green) ribbon.
