REPORTS
Vesper (Moira): The Vesper transition happened at Purgatorio. Roster Letters will send out this coming week. Moira will be heading to Oertha next week and teaching a class at their Collegium event.
Seawolf (Elewys): Elewys is looking forward to the upcoming Coronet. Her updates to the Mists Ceremony Book are in the queue but on hold at this time.
Sable Swan (Teagan): (?)
Stellanordica (Anne): She had a wonderful time seeing everyone at Purgatorio and to participate in the Vesper office change. Court reports are coming in from the events, nothing further this month.
Exchequer (Moira): The College remains solvent. Prior to leaving office, the former Vesper Principal Herald, Domamir Vlatko syn, authorized the College to cover half the expenses for the current Vesper Principal Herald to travel to Oertha for Rostering and Training Purposes.
Matins (Edith): Submissions continue to flow through the process. This month there are more than normal submissions received that payment has not followed yet. Submissions cannot proceed without payment of the fees. Find these submissions recorded at the end of the Minutes under the Returned-Submissions section.
For those who attended the September meeting, there was some confusion on PayPal fees received for submissions. This confusion is cleared up and all submissions are listed below as per their status.
Baldric (vacant): This position is vacant.
Brachet (Ræv): No report received.
Green Cloak (Victoria): Victoria requests a reminder be sent that she is looking for a successor. She is about to start her third year in this position. She is looking forward to seeing everyone at Crown, please come out and volunteer.
Green Crown (Moira): Purgatorio Coronation courts ran smoothly. Thank you to Her Grace Eilis ni Roibeard O'Boirne for organizing and running the Final Court of Miles and Tusya, with His Excellency Domamir Vlatko syn assisting as Sultana's Side Herald. Thanks also to Her Grace Ivone Pons Leyr for running Coronation Court, and Her Excellency Leah Raedaelf of Pagham for Running the First Court of Roric and Sibyl.
Moira will be unable to attend Fall Crown, due to previous commitments. Acting Green Crown will be Master Domamir Vlatko syn with assistance from Viscountess Gillian Trenowyth.
Green Trumpet (Elinora): No report received.
Green Banner (Aasa), Successor (Rayven): No report received.
Golem (Hirsch): Where things have been crazy is updating the whole Heralds’ website for an eventual move to Google Sites. The updates included moving all images and other “assets” (such as PDF files and more) to a different location (Google Storage), and figuring out how to make all that work. Golem is now at a stand-still because the Kingdom web team is busy working out details that are needed for the next part of doing this, as well as everything else that they do. (No shade on the Kingdom web team, they’re busy folk, that’s all.) Hopefully when all this is completed, it will appear seamless and all will be fine. Lots of coding and testing and coding some more has been done. This has been a good part of the last two months’ of Golem’s life (between the heralds and History websites). Golem is looking forward to when this is complete, and he can just go back to maintaining things.
Ræv took a few months off the Armory project that he and Golem have been working on, but suddenly got really active. The project is into names starting with the letter “E”. Along the way Golem and Raev have had to request that based on original artwork by submitters that the SCA College of Arms reblazon a few items, because the blazon does not match the submission. (Blazon rules have changed over the years, after all.) Some of these items go back to 1973, so it’s not too surprising.

SUBMISSONS – September (2026)
ITEMS SENT TO LAURELArngrímr of Winter’s Gate (New Name & Device sent to the CoA)
The submitter previously went by the unregistered <Arngrim of the North>.
The submitter cares about the sound (none noted) and gender (male) of the name.
Arngrímr - from <Arn- + -grímr> documented from vikinganswerlady’s Old Norse Men's Names [https://vikinganswerlady.com/ONMensNames.shtml].
Arn- has many examples as a name part, including under Arnaldr “Names with a first element of Arn-, Arinn-, Ærn- or Ærinn- are alternate forms of the OW.Norse bird-names #491;rn, ari "eagle".
-grímr has many examples as a name part, including under Alfgrímr “The second element -grímr is identical with Old Icelandic grímr, "mask," used of a helm which hides the face. Found in the Anglo-Scandinavian name Algrim and the place-name Algrimhou (c. 1200's).”
of Winter’s Gate - SCA branch name byname as per the Branch Name Allowance, SENA PN1.B.2.d.1.f
Barony of Winter’s Gate, registered January 1981 via the West.
The name formation <given + of SCA Branch Name> is formed as per the Branch Name Allowance. With the use of a Scandinavian given name: all accents and diacriticals are used.
Device:
Per pale embattled gules and sable, a bear Or and a stag argent combatant.
Caoimhe Stiùbhart (New Name sent to the CoA)
The submitter cares about the language and/or culture (Gaelic spelling) and the gender (female) of the name.
Caoimhe – OSCAR documentation by Brían dorcha ua Conaill, 2024-04-15: cited in “The martyrology of Donegal: a calendar of the saints of Ireland”, which seems to have been published in 1630 and translated/recompiled in 1864. It gives a saint <Caoimhe> on page 294/295 [https://archive.org/stream/martyrologydone00reevgoog#page/n353/mode/2up].
The Martyrology was put together by Michael O'Cleary, one of the Four Masters of the eponymous Annals. ...
p.94f, 4 April: Caemh, ogh, o Cill Caoimhe [Caemh, virgin, of Caoimhe's Church]
p.294, 2 Nov: Caoimhe, Albanach, ó Chill Caoimhe [Caoimhe, Scottish, of Caoimhe's Church]
p.372 (index): Caoimhe ó Chill Caoimhe (Pulcheria), ... 2 Nov Caoimhe of Caoimhe's Church (beautious)
It's not really possible to tell from these the sex of the two Caoimhes. We might surmise female, from the "pulcheria" tag. The Caoimhes in the Annals are definitely male.
Stiùbhart - found in Family Search in Portree, Inverness-shire, Scotland. and Strathblane, Stirlingshire, Scotland. Muireadhach Stiubhart was born 1362 and died 1425 - the West College was unable to find this record and requests assistance documenting this name.

The previously registered Per pale vert and Or, a unicorn contourny argent and a griffin gules, in chief a rose purpure is to be released upon registration.
Device change submission was returned on the 12-2025 LoAR with the comments: Per pale Or and vert, a mouse sejant erect argent maintaining a pellet invected platy.
This device is returned for the use of a roundel with a complex line. Precedent says:

Chagatai Dochin (Device Returned for Conflict, Name sent to the CoA)
Purpure, two crescents in pale argent.
Vivian of the Moon, device: Purpure, in pale a sprig of three lotus blossoms and a crescent argent. There is a DC for the change of half of the charge group, no other differences, so this is a conflict.
