REPORTS

Vesper (Damir): His thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped at Diamond Beltane. While he was unable to attend, it sounds like it was a lovely event. Specific thanks and commendation go to:

Now that the open period for applicants have closed, he is pleased to officially announce his Vesper successor Moira O'Conor, with whom he has every confidence of fulfilling the office admirable. He intends to transition the office at Purgatorio after conferring with Moira, and the Crown/Seneschal.

There has been much discussion, and seeming confusion, in the kingdom over the sealing of scrolls. In an effort to address this Damir plans to post to the herald and scribal groups a reminder about what we look for before sealing AND providing a link to our website that already documents this.

Eleanor O’Connor has expressed interested in Green Trumpet, will be trialing the office at June Crown.

Seawolf (Elewys): The day before the meeting they had the Investiture of a Prince and Princess. Thanks to Moira of Kent for her assistance.

Considering breaking out Investiture ceremonies form the rest of the Ceremony book, similar to what Kingdom is trialing.

Suggests a change to the book offering combined Fealty ceremonies, rather than only having them all split out to individual ceremonies.

And for Invocation, she would like to consider changing the Ceremony for the order of calling fighters. Recent have been Heavy Knights, then call overs, then Companions of the Order of Defense and call overs, then the “unbelted” fighters for both.

Sable Swan (Teagan): Since the prior meeting, our Cynaguan Royals held courts at War of the Baronies and Cynagua/Mists War (War of the Principalities).

Teagan conducted Their Highnesses business at War of the Baronies.

Their Highnesses business at War of the Principalities was conducted by Victoria of Durham.

Teagan has found and began training a Deputy in Mistress Brigit Ni Sheachnasigh.

She wants to give a resounding shout out to a blossoming Book Herald in Rayven The Other, who has run several consultation tables and has been doing an absolutely stellar job!

In addition, Agatha of Fettburg and Raven The Other did wonderfully in representing their respective Barons and Baronesses in court at War of the Baronies.

Teagan apologizes for her absence from the meeting. If anyone has any questions that need answering, please reach out, and she'll respond in as timely a fashion as possible.

Stellanordica (Anne): Hello from the Great North! Upcoming is the Baronial changeover for Selveirgard, their Highnesses will be the representatives for their Majesties.

Anne will be creating a ceremony that will be kept in the Archives for the changeover with their Highnesses representing their Majesties.

There are some newer heralds training in the Principality who have been a lot of fun to work with.

Exchequer (Moira): The College remains solvent. A check was sent to the Society College of Arms for prepayment of fees, but has not yet shown up on the monthly report.

We are still waiting on checks from the PayPal Deputy for submissions paid through PayPal. There is a delay in getting signers on the account.

The Society's arrangement with Chase Bank is now in place. At an in-person Heralds' meeting several Twelfth Nights ago it was determined that the signers on the College of Heralds checking account should be Kingdom Exchequer, College of Heralds Exchequer, Vesper Principal Herald, and one additional member of the College at-large (preferably someone in close physical proximity to the Exchequer). As soon as the signers are verified, she will fill out the Society's paperwork and meet with the contact at her local branch to get the branch information for the new account.

Matins (Edith): Gulf Wars submissions from Ansteorra remain pending, not yet sent out to the other Kingdoms. Matins will reach out to those affected, once the information is provided, to confirm their submissions have now been received and will be processed with at the July meeting.

Otherwise, submissions continue to roll through the process, including the large number pending for this meeting.

Baldric (vacant): This position is recently vacant.

Brachet (Ræv): Congratulations to Ræv Kolfinnsson who took on this office this month!

Green Cloak (Victoria): No report received.

Green Crown (Moira): Diamond Beltane Courts ran smoothly - a total of five courts in eight days. Thank you to everyone who helped with Court Heralding at the extended event. Special thanks to Mistress Leah Raedaelf of Pagham for writing out the court business when I experienced a tight deadline for the War of the Principalities Court, and Master Richard Talbot of Blackmere who rolled with the punches as Sovereign's Side Herald for that Court.

A new section was added to Kingdom Law giving the Sovereign and/or Consort the option to name their child or children as Prince/Princess/Heir Royale for the duration of Their reign. This law change has resulted in two new ceremonies: one for naming the Child (or Children) Royale, and one for relinquishing the title at the end of the reign. The law designates that former Children Royale will receive an Augmentation of Arms, with the suggested augmentation as an acorn. The ceremony at the end of the reign includes awarding the Augmentation of Arms, preceded by an Award of Arms if the child doesn't already have one.

Finally, Green Crown requests the College's guidance on the specifications for the new binders to be commissioned for the Coronation Ceremony books.

Green Trumpet (vacant): Vacant.

Green Banner (Aasa), Successor (Rayven the Other): The Consultation Table was at Beltane on the first Saturday. Aasa had intended to camp and spend most of the week at the event, but her energy levels were too low for anything more.

Rayven the Other has agreed to be Aasa’s deputy successor. Aasa is very impressed with the energy, ideas, and initiative Rayven has been displaying as baronial herald for Rivenoak, so she’s excited to train her and eventually pass the office to Rayven. (Aasa has also taken Rayven as her protégé.)

Golem (Hirsch): Court reports are coming in pretty timely, and the royalty have been great about getting them confirmed. Golem would like to suggest folk try to think about spelling of names for Court Reports. Try to think of variations on a name, if you cannot find the spelling you have. Ceara of Morven recently received a second Award of Arms, because no one could find her name in the awards data (or the Who’s Who). This is understandable: Ceara could be spelled: Chiara, Kiara, Keara, and probably multiple other ways. Another recent example: Jackie of Fettburg – could this be Jacqueline of Fettburg? And one more example: Steven = Stephan, Stephen, Stefan, and the feminine versions of these (Stefana, etc.) Anyway, things to try to remember. Note that Golem is not pointing fingers at anyone, this is not an easy thing to remember, or to even consider in the middle of going through court notes and building the report. It can, however, avoid some issues …

Other than that, things are trundling along. Golem is still looking for folk willing to train in parts of this job. Moira of Kent when time allows will be taking on the Ceremony Books, but otherwise … For information about jobs that people are trying to fill: https://heralds.westkingdom.org/JobOpenings.php
