REPORTS
Vesper (Eilis): Eilis is working on a job description for Vesper. Once reviews and edits are complete, it will be posted everywhere. Aasa is her emergency deputy.
Heralds Collegium that was scheduled for April will not occur. The Heralds are going to hold a Collegium at the Kingdom Championship event on Saturday Sept 14. This will be an outdoor event, which will be great for voice work. Please reach out to Vesper with your class ideas. She will next be at Gulf Wars and then West Spring Crown.
Vesper commends Moira of Kent for doing an excellent job in the position of Seawolf.
For all Senior Staff at Spring Crown (3/22-3/24), please come together for a meeting with Vesper for a quick discussion on sealing scrolls. Currently planned for during the Chivalry meeting immediately following the tourney.
Seawolf (Moira): The Principality Coronet Tournament to choose Their Highness' heirs will take place on March 30. Moira will be posting notices on social media inviting members of the populace to take the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of being a field herald.
At the request of the incoming Baroness of Darkwood, Seawolf will be working with Their Excellencies and Their Herald to update and reformat the Darkwood Baronial Ceremonies book, to incorporate gender neutrality and conform with style guidelines set forth by Golem Herald.
She would like to commend Elewys Gwynne, new Herald of the Westermark, on her speedy and detailed Court Report for the Westermark Dockside Regatta and Potluck. Even though this was an unofficial event due to missing publication in the Page, her notes were quite comprehensive and will make it very easy for Their Excellencies to reaffirm the awards at a later date.
Moira is continuing the search for my successor, as her two-year term ends with Fall Coronet.
Sable Swan (Victoria): It’s been a busy couple of months. Victoria was not able to attend the Court Herald training in Cynagua in January, but heard it went really well. Some of the trainees came forward at the next Cynaguan event, and she was able to fully staff the courts. Thanks to Gavin and a second volunteer for stepping in and helping out.
Their Highnesses traveling ceremony book needs to be reprinted for the new version that was recently published.
Victoria is looking for a successor for Sable Swan.
Stellanordica (Catriona): Overall, Stellanordica thinks things are going fairly smoothly up in Oertha. They had a successful Coronet tournament and have invested their new Prince and Princess. She thinks overall that court reports are being submitted and confirmed appropriately (there may be an outstanding Baronial report that needs a confirmation still). Baronial and other local events are planned and moving along. The next *Principality* event will be Summer Coronet in July, though of course they will also be hosting June Crown in Oertha this year - so it should be an exciting year!
At Coronet in January, heralding for the tourney was done by Princess Anne for the initial round, and by Rodrigo de Reinosa for finals and heir recognition (it was a lean, round-robin tourney). Court heralds included Clare Elena de Montfort, Kinehild le Librari, Anna Neri, Eilis O'Boirne, and herself (Caitriona) [apologies for any misspellings]. Eilis largely handled Their Majesties' courts.
The local branches seem to be functioning well, but Catriona admits she needs to touch bases with the local officers to ensure they're doing well. She thinks name and device consultations are also continuing as normal.
Stellanordica is through updating the Oertha ceremonies book, with help, and will be running the newest updated version by the Seneschal and Coronets to respond to some questions, and then will propose related law changes. There are a few small details about awards to iron out, based on a comparison to current Law, but she thinks they've at least completed an update to deal with gendered language.
Exchequer (Damir): Successor (Moira of Kent): With the recent needed staffing changes, Moira of Kent has stepped in to become his successor and will be taking over Exchequer in June. Between now and then Damir plans to facilitate knowledge transfer and continue to try and get the signatories updated on the account. Domesday report has been submitted and accepted by Kingdom Exchequer, and no updates have come down on the change to Financial Policy to allow us to start accepting submission fees electronically.
Many thanks to Deputy Heinrich for his assistance.
Matins (Edith): The submissions process continues to function. Please encourage submitters to work with an experienced consulting herald, several submissions this month had rules issues that Matins attempted to work with the submitters to correct prior to the meeting. If you don’t know one to recommend, you can reach out to Matins who will find a volunteer.
Baldric (training deputy): Vesper is running training as a College-wide program, not assigned to a specific individual at this time.
Brachet (vacant).
Green Cloak (Alizan): Green Cloak is seeking a successor, please contact Vesper.
Telynore is going to shadow Alizan at Spring Crown and then run heralds at June Crown.
Green Crown (Damir), Successor (Moira of Kent): In consultation with Vesper, it has been decided that Moira of Kent will take Green Crown as soon as a Seawolf replacement can be identified and installed. Courts continue to take place and reports are being filed. Damir’s thanks to all the court heralds who've assisted Their Majesties on Their travels.
Green Trumpet (Gwenhwyfaer): No activity since Twelfth Night, she will be at Spring Crown and Beltane. Caolinn Rose has volunteered to cover Green Trumpet at June Crown. She seconds Victoria’s comment about Gavin, he provided backup for Gwenhwyfaer during a court and did a wonderful job.
Green Banner (Aasa): The Consultation Table has not been officially present at any events since Twelfth Night. Virtual consultations have continued. She will be at Spring Crown, Beltane, and potentially Mists Coronet. Please feel free to request the Consultation Table at local events. Aasa is happy and willing to travel.
She has not been able to find an e-book version of the Beider Ashkenazic Names Dictionary. Amazon currently has it in paperback for about $50.
She continues to explore weather-tight storage box options for the College's library.
Golem (Hirsch): As is often the case, Golem has been alternately not very busy and then suddenly quite busy. Between Court Reports, and working both with Stellanordica and Green Crown on ceremonies (degendering, and all that fun stuff, including filling in ceremonies that were not there for Oertha), Golem is not usually bored. Of course, with this next month having Crown, Mists Coronet, and more, it is expected that a lot of court reports will be coming.
The first of six classes on Heraldry 101 (armory) was successful. The next is coming (the Thursday after this coming meeting) soon – the plan is every two weeks until done. Golem is feeling pretty good about how the first one went, and is looking forward to the rest of the series.
