REPORTS
Vesper (Antonio): Deputy (Eilis): To all those who sent in their reports… thank you… and for all Officers of the College that did not send in a report, please forward reports by midnight on 5/31/23 so Vesper can prepare his report upon his return to Laurel Sovereign. Thanks to all of you that make this College work so efficiently.
Seawolf (Moira): The new awards created by Their Highnesses Neil and Kelsy were approved and added to Principality Law. Corresponding ceremonies were created, and added to the Principality Ceremony Book
The de-gendered Principality Ceremony Book was completed, and returned to Golem Herald for publication. She would like to extend her deepest gratitude to Golem Herald and Green Crown Herald for their guidance and efforts on this project.
Their Highnesses Roland and Audrey immediately instituted a new Law upon Their taking the Thrones on May 20, calling for the creation of a Youth Guard. Many thanks to Stone (Steinn) the Skald for creating the basis of the Ceremony for the Investiture of the Youth Guard.
Seawolf would like to thank Domamir Vlatko syn and Savage Buffie for Heralding during Mists Investiture. All new ceremonies created during the reign of Neil and Kelsy, and the current Reign of Roland and Audrey have now been used in Court. She will be forwarding the Youth Guard ceremony to Golem Herald for inclusion in the Mists Ceremony Book.
Sable Swan (Victoria): Cynagua / Mists War was a good event on the KHTI land.
Everyone pitched in with heralding as needed.
Last week's Fettburg Championship was well attended. Viscount Cormac did a wonderful job of heralding the list.
Their Highnesses and Sable Swan have started working on making the Cynaguan ceremonies gender neutral. Their goal is to have at least the ceremonies for Coronet done next weekend.
Sable Swan will be posting on Facebook today for volunteers for Coronet.
Stellanordica (Catriona): Things are moving along in Oertha - the baronies and smaller groups have been having events and working on officer successions. It is Stellanordica’s understanding that Their Highnesses have been tapping local talent at events, but life has kept her away.
Upcoming in a couple months is Oertha's Coronet and Investiture. She will need to find an acting Stellanordica to assist, as she will again be away from the home lands. Catriona has trust in the Principality to have capable hands to assist, and will consult with Their Highnesses about their preferences, hopefully when she’s at the Selviergard baronial changeover and anniversary event next weekend.
She knows Khevron has been assisting with device consulting, as well... Oertha's heralds are a busy lot.
Exchequer (Damir): Successor (Heinreich): The College remains solvent. In an exciting update, we have received the draft of the new financial policy that would allow the College to accept submission fees via PayPal. He is in discussion with Vesper and Matins to review the proposed policy as well as determine the appropriate staff to be trained on Paypal for this purpose.
Matins (Edith): The Matins office continues to run. We are now transitioning to the new forms, with half the submissions in May on the older version and half coming in on the new forms. The West College website has all the current forms and instructions in the same place as always: https://heralds.westkingdom.org/Register.php.
Many thanks to Golem for helping with the changes and making the updates so quickly.
Green Crown (Domamir): We had a coronation! All reports have been submitted and approved for all courts from the event. Thanks to assistance from Golem, we are updating several pages of the ceremony book, both to update the lists of Western Heroes and the Western Roll of Honor, but also a slight change to make all the peerage ceremonies slightly more consistent across the orders.
Baldric (training deputy): Vesper is running training as a College-wide program, not assigned to a specific individual at this time.
Brachet (vacant).
Green Cloak (Alizan): Field heraldry is happening. A Special Announcement at Spring Crown netted 28 heralds for the day, and she posted her thanks to the West Facebook page.
At Beltane, she suffered a heat-related illness but others stepped in to herald both the Armored and Rapier Championships. Thanks go to Aasa, Elinora, Richard Talbot, Roric Darkinson, Raven, and Joseph of the Red Griffin (visiting from the East Kingdom) for working the field, and to Moira and Gwenwhyfaer for sitting the table.
After June Crown, Heralds Point will journey north to West-AnTir War via Heinrich Sinister, where it will be used by Anne FitzRichard who has volunteered to run the War Heralds. Heinrich will convey Point back to Green Cloak after the war.
Green Cloak needs a successor. Announcements have been posted to FB and will go into the next Page.
Green Trumpet (Gwenhwyfaer): At the two Kingdom events since the last meeting, March Crown and Beltane, Green Trumpet was present and shouts were done at both.
Green Trumpet will not be present at either A&S Tourney or West AnTir War. The next event Green Trumpet will be at will be June Crown.
Green Banner (Aasa): She brought the Consultation Table to Beltane, and it was hopping! They had a lot of newcomers come, several of whom walked away from the table with completed name submission forms (and she saw one on the meeting docket). She plans to bring it to June Crown, as well.
Aasa has spoken to several people over the last few months who have expressed interest in heraldry, particularly book heraldry, and she think they would be excellent additions to our College.
As always, she continues to do a lot of online consultation. Green Banner is very pleased with the new submission forms, especially the armory ones with the ability to insert digital art.
She plans to purchase new tubs for the College's library, and has selected a clear plastic model that is smaller than the current set, has more comfortably grippable handles, and has clip-on lids with a foam seal to protect the books. Aasa expects to need between 6 and 8 tubs, depending on how the books fit.
Golem (Hirsch): Golem has been busy with the usual – Court Reports (with a Coronation in there, of course, there were a lot of recognitions …); and minor things here and there.
Since the last meeting, Seawolf completed the updates to the Mists ceremony book, which included new ceremonies for some awards, and that is now available online. (He is pretty sure this has been mentioned in her report as well.)
Golem, while looking at various recognitions in the awards list (as they appear under an individual’s name) realized that there were some inconsistencies, and some of them (“Defense”, for example) just didn’t look right. So a bunch of updates later, and awards that are listed as “Orders” now show “name, Order of the” or similar wording (“Defense, Order of”), making them look better. This then led to going through all the recognitions from other Kingdoms, and comparing what was in the database against other Kingdom award sites. That is always an interesting (read that as you will) … experience. So, that’s now at least mostly done. The “menu” pages for each of the branches have been updated as well, so there is a consistency in the headings for individual recognitions (“Order of the xxx” became “The Order of the xxx”, which while minor is still better, and some “orders” didn’t include “The Order of …” in the title).
Speaking of recognitions -- as the protocol droids of the Kingdom, the Heralds should be using titles for recognitions correctly. Golem would like to ask the heralds to please use “Order of Defense” instead of “MOD”, which is short for “Masters of Defense” – we don’t use “MOL” for the Laurel, and so on, please let’s use the correct term. If you don’t feel “Order of Defense” is correct, “Companions of the Order of Defense” when speaking of the whole (which can be used for any “Order”) is correct, albeit if anything more formal. If you need to use alphabet soup, “OD” rather than “MOD” is correct. (Golem doesn’t recommend “OoD” or “OOD”, due to interesting associations with Doctor Who.)
Heraldic Will Committee (Na’arah, Aasa, Antonio) preliminary report: Aasa and Na’arah have met and have an outline and a roadmap. They know what they need to do and what resources they will need.

"In commentary, Adelaide de Beaumont documented Roxane as a transliteration from classical Greek found in the LGPN. Thus, Roxane Xanthia is an authentic classical Greek name. Roxana is a plausible Latinized form."
