REPORTS
Vesper (Antonio): Deputy (Eilis): Vesper’s report was submitted. He would like to schedule an online Collegium for the College, including a class on the entire submissions process.
Alizan was offered and accepted as Herald Extraordinary.
Moira O’Connor was also offered and accepted Herald Extraordinary.
His thanks to all the heralds of the College and the staff, as they are making his job easy with their diligence and knowledge.
Seawolf (Moira): Moira took over the position of Seawolf Herald on September 11, earlier than originally intended due to other changes in the College of Heralds. She would like to thank her predecessor Damir Vlatko syn for his invaluable guidance in preparing for the position, and his willingness to answer any further questions she may have moving forward.
Mists Coronet was held September 9-11. Due to the layout of the site and the number of entrants, there were only two fields at the event — one for Heavy and one for Rapier. Seawolf would like to thank Ritter Brion of Belatrix and Mistress Margrethe Astrid Ravn for sharing the Field heraldry on the Heavy field, and Moss of Little Marsden, Sir Leon von Schrecken, and Damir for assisting in heralding the Rapier field. This was Moss’ first time field Heralding, and they are interested in continuing to field herald. We had no requests for consultations, and one name change submission was informed of the proper submission procedures.
At the request of Their Highnesses and the Lord and Lady of the Mists, she will be starting the “de-gendering” of the Mists ceremonies. At the same time, she’ll be cross-checking the ceremonies against Principality Law (as an example, we have one award that is listed in Law as an Honor, but in the ceremony is an Order), and identifying where ceremonies are missing (e. g. Archery Champion) or need updating (e. g. Corolla Muralis).
As part of Principality efforts to “demystify” Greater and Lesser Offices, she will be writing up a description of what being Seawolf Herald entails, what are the requirements for the position, and what is the recommended skill set.
Sable Swan (Victoria): The Cynaguan Ceremony book is going to be reviewed again with the Royals regarding degendering the ceremonies. Several new ceremonies are pending incorporation into the book. Viscount Kormac is coming along as a new voice herald. Victoria will be out of Kingdom following Great Western War, Moira will assist as back-up Sable Swan if needed for Coronet.
Stellanordica (Eilis, interim): They are reviewing the ceremony book and will be evaluating a few awards that are a bit duplicative. They are also reviewing for degendering. Collegium is coming up soon, and they are working on getting the schedule finalized.
Exchequer (Damir): Successor (Heinreich): The College remains solvent. Damir’s commendation to Master Edmond of Surrey for continuing to shepherd the law and financial policy change required to allow us to start accepting electronic payments for submissions. The process is ongoing and there is no material update for this meeting. Master Edmond is also continuing to assist us with transition to Bank of the West. The current challenge is coordinating all the gentles that need to be signers on the new account, but Damir plans to apply himself to this task in October after war.
His hope is to pass the office to his most worthy successor, Heinrich von Melk, effective 12th Night and will be conferring with all parties to confirm.
A note to the College at large, while the College continues to remain solvent, we are NOT a revenue generating body. While the College of Heralds can and will continue to fund its obligations, please try and be thoughtful with reimbursement requests and please go through the proper channels. For any request of expense or reimbursement please send an e-mail to the Financial Committee: Vesper and the Exchequer for your request to be considered.
Discussion of creating a Wish List for the Heralds where Officers can post their needs and the rest of the populace/heralds can see and have the ability to step up and assist in fulfilling.
Matins (Edith): Deputies (Ruadrí and Sieglinde): Submissions continue to move through the process. If you are working with a submitter, please don’t forget to remind them that fees must be sent in. As per the most recent updates, fees must still be sent via postal mail as listed at https://heralds.westkingdom.org/Register.php.
Green Crown (Damir): Damir assumed the office of Green Crown herald effective the weekend of Purgatorio. His eternal gratitude to Her Grace, Duchess Eilis for her assistance and guidance during this transition period. Further, his commendation to all the court heralds from our recent Purgatorio Coronation including Baron Antonio, Baron Alizan, Baroness Claire Elena, Richard, and two others I hope Her Grace Eilis will recall during the meeting.
Damir is in coordination with Their Majesties to get West Courts scheduled for Great Western War so that it can be announced ahead of time, and coordinating with elevants for Crown and War.
Damir is preparing two class proposals to submit for consideration, one being a brief online zoom to be recorded on how to fill out a court report with commentary and tips. The other conceptually being a "Behind the Thrones: Step to the other side of the herald's book" to be taught at Crowns out of herald's point where interested members of the populace can come see/hold the ceremony books irl, practice projecting and reading a ceremony, and then with the permission of the Royals, take a field trip to the Royal pavilion and stand in the spot. He plans to coordinate/discuss this with the pertinent experts in the College. He will also be putting out a call for interested court heralds for Fall Crown this week.
Baldric (training deputy): Vesper is running training as a College-wide program, not assigned to a specific individual at this time.
Brachet (Kean): He is looking for a successor.
Green Cloak (Alizan): Field heralds were not utilized at Purgatorio, but Heralds Point did serve as a the central location for announcements and the traveling library.
Green Trumpet (Gwenhwyfaer): Announcements did occur at Purgatorio. Mercy Grymm is planning on handling the 8 am shouts as needed. Crown is coming, and she will be posting for volunteers.
Green Banner (Aasa): No report received.
Golem (Hirsch): Over the past couple of months there have been some glitches with emails and court reports. Most court reports are coming in to him within a week of the event. New ceremonies came through and were updated. He provided clean copies to Seawolf for work on the Ceremony book.
Collegium Occidentalis is coming up on November 12th. Reminder if the College wants to get involved in this event.

Byname | Meaning | Number of occurrences
inn írski | Irish | 2
The Scandinavian name formation <given + byname> is found in SENA Appendix A. Accents and diacritical marks were used throughout the name, as requested by the submitter.
Device:
Or, in pale a raven displayed purpure and a helmet affrontee vert.
Previous device, Quarterly azure and argent, a lion sejant affronty Or, is to be retained as a badge.
Argent goutty de larmes, a crow rising sable platy.
Previous device, Argent, three arrows in fess, on a chief indented azure three wolf's heads cabossed argent, is to be retained as a badge.
Per saltire azure and sable, two wolf’s heads and a raven’s head couped argent.
RETURNS
Per pale argent and vert, a bear salient sable and an ash tree eradicated argent.
This must be returned due to the appearance of marshaling with the use of a simple pale line. If the pale line is complex, the following would be a conflict:
Ingrid Bjørnsdottir, Device, Ansteorra, 06/2018, Per pale embattled argent and gules, a bear rampant sable and a tree blasted and eradicated argent.
The previous submission, Vert, in fess a bear statant erect sable and an ash tree eradicated argent, was returned on the August 2021 LoAR with the comments:
This device is returned for lack of documentation supporting a sable bear and an argent tree as co-primaries on a vert field. While an IAP for a sable bear on a color field has been demonstrated in the past, SENA A4B says, "The overall design of the submission must be similar to the types of designs that document the use of the non-core style elements. In general, examples must match the submission in style and complexity." Therefore, documentation must also be provided to justify the inclusion of, in this case, the argent tree. Unfortunately, the documentation provided did not satisfy that requirement.
The resubmission addresses the reasons for the return.
