REPORTS
Vesper (Antonio): Deputy (Eilis): News of the College, discussion of the various individuals covering offices for others currently.
Offer of Herald Extraordinary made to and accepted by Edith of Swanesdale and Na'arah bat Avraham.
Seawolf (Moira): Mists Fall Investiture is coming up. She is progressing on de-gendering all the ceremonies. Everything that will be used at Investiture will have been de-gendered. Some releases for Investiture do not have a formal ceremony, she is working on creating ceremonies available for use for these items. She is also cross-checking all ceremonies against Principality Law, so she can work with Royalty to correct any discrepancies.
Sable Swan (Victoria): Coronet happened, great support from everyone. Alizan was fantastic as a resource. Many thanks and appreciation for the many people who volunteered, so many that not everyone ended up being needed. Their Highnesses want to work on the Ceremony Book and would like to include the Lord and Lady of the Swan for any changes between now and Their Investiture.
Stellanordica (Eilis, interim): The Oerthan heralds' collegium happened as scheduled, although not without some hiccups. Because she became ill after Great Western, Anne fitz Richard was not able to join us as a teacher, and at least one of our more enthusiastic trainees also came down with bad GWW crud. Another, also enthusiastic, trainee was the autocrat for the previous day's event and was totally wiped out. However, we did have 13 attendees and much knowledge was imparted. She will be sending all the attendees pdf copies of the handouts from the classes, when she has a chance to complete them. She would like to thank Alizaan de la Fontaine and Richard Talbot for coming up to support the Collegium. Alizan's voice classes were very well received, and Richard actually gave them a break and did a class on what it was like being a beginning herald. Several of the attendees have expressed an interest in continuing education and in being put on the roster, and she now has a contact who is allowed printing at her office, so she will be able to help us keep the ceremony books updated. She would also like to thank the College and the Principality for supporting this much-needed training session.
Ceremony Book: updating the ceremony book is the next major project on her to-do list. Many of the ceremonies are in need of gender-neutralizing and similar updating.
Courts: Courts are being reported as they happen.
Exchequer (Damir): Successor (Heinreich): Damir is working to ensure that all the requirements of this position are covered while he is unavailable.
Matins (Edith): Deputies (Ruadrí and Sieglinde): The Matins office continues to process submissions, and has fully incorporated the best practice to invite all submitters to the Meeting that will include their submission. Edith is continuing to work with her new deputies on training and duties of the office and appreciates their assistance and patience.
The College of Arms is updating the submission forms and will be producing fillable PDFs in the near future.
Reminder for heralds (and submitters): the current requirement for the West remains that fees must be sent in to Matins via postal mail, electronic payments are not allowed at this time. A submission will not move forward for consideration if the fee is not received prior to the meeting. The Matins process: confirm receipt of the electronic submission with note that fees are required (prior to the meeting). If fees are not received, one additional email reminding of the fee requirement. A confirmation email that the funds arrived. If a submitter does not receive a confirmation of funds email, it is highly likely that Matins has not received the funds.
Green Crown (Damir, stunt deputy Eilis): Given Saint Damir's precarious health, and with his consent, Eilis took the heralds bag from Fall Crown and had it brought to GWW, where it was well-used. She is documenting the travels of the bags, going from person to person, so that the College has a trail...
She will be available to Their Majesties at the Bi-Baronial Yule the first weekend of December, and Her Majesty will have a book and knows what her options are in Winters Gate the following weekend.
Court reports are happening and being approved in a timely manner.
Discussion around acceptability of options to allow Court Heralds who cannot stand for the entirety of a court (flexibility of Royals, seating/leaning options, etc.).
Baldric (training deputy): Vesper is running training as a College-wide program, not assigned to a specific individual at this time.
Brachet (vacant): pending an update.
Green Cloak (Alizan): As shared by Vesper: she worked amazingly hard at both Coronet and Crown, and traveled to Oertha to participate in the Heralds Collegium there. Her hard work in this position is seen and appreciated.
Green Trumpet (Gwenhwyfaer): Ran voices at Crown, shouts happened and were heard and appreciated. For Twelfth Night: discussion of how to share information, possible limited shouts, possible whiteboard with event info posted.
Green Banner (Aasa): Although circumstances have conspired to keep her from a number of events she had intended to attend with the Consultation Table, as well as missing the few meetings, she nevertheless has been able to continue her consultation work both online and at the Great Western War heralds point.
She still enjoys this position and is happy to remain in it for as long as Vesper sees fit. Regarding the library, she has determined that the storage unit at her apartment will actually be fine for it. It is convenient and she can retrieve books as needed.
Golem (Hirsch): Since the last meeting, not a lot has happened other than the “usual”. He found out that the “automated” system for adding Royalty to the email forwarding has broken and is not currently being worked on by the Kingdom Web Minister. This means probably reminding the Web Minister each time Royalty changes to update the forwarding emails.
He spent some time working on adding some “meta tags” – HTML tags with very specific meanings – to the Award List and then the rest of the Heralds’ website. It took a while (the award list interestingly was the easier part), but now when a web page from the heralds’ site is linked to on, say, Facebook, you will see a title and (depending on the platform) a description, although he notes that sometimes the description gets cut off. He had done a simpler version of this a while back to force the heralds’ badge to be the image that appears, because with pages that have multiple images, Facebook trolls the page and just seems to grab one randomly. This resolves all of that. And tags are in there for Twitter and Google+, which should affect a variety of other platforms as well.
Court Reports are still generally coming in in a timely fashion.
